BOWMEN SPORTS UPDATE

Week of February 22nd!

SwimmingThe Bowmen season finished when they competed in the OSAA State Championships this past Friday and Saturday at Mt. Hood Community College.  The boys ended up in 13th place and the girls in 17th.  State meet qualifiers and meet information can be viewed at http://osaa.org/swimming/ Congratulations to coach Mark Maxwell and the swimmers as they had another fine season.  The girls ended up NWOC dual meet champions and both boys and girls finished 2nd at the NWOC district meet.

Wrestling:  The Bowmen competed at the NWOC District Meet at Century HS on Friday and Saturday.  The team had their highest finish in several years at this year’s meet and is sending several wrestlers on to the OSAA state tournament this Thursday through Saturday at Memorial Coliseum.  Complete district results are available at www.nwoc5a.org.  State tournament information is available at http://osaa.org/wrestling/

Girls BasketballThe Bowmen lost to Glencoe and beat Liberty last week in NWOC games.  This week the girl’s complete league play when they host Wilsonville on Wednesday.  A win will give the girls 3rd place in league and a state playoff berth.  A lost will probably drop us to 4th which would mean we would host a league playoff game on Saturday at home.  The winner of the playoff game will advance to the state playoffs as the league’s #4 seed.  Game times on Wednesday are 4:15 for JV; 5:45 for Varsity, 7:15 for JV2.

Boys Basketball:  The Bowmen lost to Glencoe and defeated Liberty last week, placing them in 4th place in league.  This Wednesday the boys finish the NWOC regular season, hosting Wilsonville in a doubleheader with the girls.  Game times are 4:15 for JV, 5:45 for freshmen, 7:15 for Varsity.  A win on Wednesday gives us a chance for 3rd in league; a loss places us in 4th.  A 4th place finish means we host a league playoff game on Saturday with the winner advancing to the state playoffs which begin next Tuesday.  The JV2 team finishes their season this week when they host Rex Putnam at 7:00 on Tuesday and travel to Wilsonville at 4:30 on Wednesday.

Dance:  The Arrows next competition is at the Metro Invitational at Centennial in March.  The team continues to work hard on their routines and hope to peak at the state competition at Memorial Coliseum on March 19.

Cheerleading: The competition team’s season finished Feb. 13 at the OSAA State Cheerleading Championships where they placed 6th.  The girls continue to cheer at the home basketball games this season.  Complete OSAA State Championship results can be seen at http://osaa.org/cheer/2010/10results.asp
